The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team was set up at the hospital in 2007 by Barbara Harris and Simon Anjoyeb. Olivia King joined the department in August 2015 and Phillip Waldman was hired in January 2019.

Barbara (Babs) Harris, Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, provides strategic input across hospital services, working with commissioners, other public sector bodies, BSUH executives/directors and third sector organisations. She oversees the Trust’s delivery of its equality and human rights duties and responsibilities. She leads on the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) agenda.
Olivia King (pronouns she/they), Equality and Inclusion Advisor leads on staff training, resource development, and manages and writes all content for the Equality Hub and associated social media accounts. She leads on the gender and sexual diversity agenda and training workshops on inclusive communication, working with interpreters and bespoke modules for specific clinical teams.
Phillip Waldman (pronouns he/him/his) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager – Workforce, leads on due regard, policy development and management, working with HR colleagues on workforce issues, data analysis and management, presenting information to executives/senior management and much more.
Simon Anjoyeb, Deputy Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion – Service Improvement, leads on service delivery, disability, reasonable adjustments, fair recruitment, contract and project management. He recently redesigned hospital signage. He leads on the Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES) agenda.
