BSUH NHS Trust is an acute teaching hospital with a proud history of delivering accessible, safe, fair care. We provide district general hospital services, specialised and tertiary services and we are a major trauma centre. We work with our partners the Brighton and Sussex Medical School and Kent, Surrey and Sussex Postgraduate Deanery.

Core values We treat almost a million people a year from all walks of life, from all over the world and our 8,900+ staff are just as diverse. Equality and inclusion are fundamental to everything we do. We actively cultivate a culture of respect that values diversity and inclusion, and we openly and consistently challenge behaviours counter to this ethos. All our operations are patient-centric and Patient First is our long-term approach to transforming our services.

Making a difference Within our service area a fifth of the population identify as lesbian, gay and bisexual and/or transgender and non-binary. In addition, a fifth of the population identify as Black and Minority Ethnic (BME). Our staff profile reflects this. We are undertaking a drive to recruit disabled people. We are a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) and have made substantial in-roads in processes and mechanisms supporting disabled people in the workplace and in terms of recruitment, retention and progression.

Your career goals There are over 350 different careers in the NHS and, at BSUH, there is a role for everyone with the right skills and values. Whatever your background and previous work experience, there are opportunities to develop your career and potential. We actively recruit and support people with diverse characteristics and experiences to reflect our patient population so that we can continue to put patients at the heart of everything we do.
